Special Edition of a Betting Bride- proceeds going toward the Wounded Marine fund.

Welcome back to Liberty, Texas... where the summer is heating up for the single bachelors... as the 'Bridal Bid' is finally underway.

Alec Wentworth, town mayor and all around nice guy, has a big problem. A problem called marriage. A group of elderly matchmaking men that run the town council have decided it is time to lasso the bachelor and drag him to the altar. The plan is simple, put the mayor up for auction and let the brides bid on him. The men are pinning their hopes that more of the bachelors in town would follow suit.

Alec is a man with a scarred past, one that he hides behind flirtatious banter and roguish charm. His devilishly handsome looks don’t hurt him one bit either. But he isn’t going to go willingly to the altar…he is a man with a plan… he just needs his longtime friend Serena, to help him out.

Serena Sinclair has loved Alec secretly for years, but enough was enough. It was time for her to move on with her life and leave her plain-Jane spinsterhood behind in her dust. Alec may need her help in thwarting the hordes of ladies who want to become his bride, but she needs his help in teaching her the art of seduction.

What starts out as a few innocent kisses, and one night turns a friendly game of poker into something a bit more wicked… the pair find themselves forced into a hasty marriage. Just in time for the ghosts in Alec’s past to resurface in his life. Will the new couple find contentment? Or will a cruel plot and a scorned admirer ruin the joy they could find together?

A Betting Bride Alec and Serena Brides of Liberty Series Book 2 edition by Rebecca De Medeiros Literature Fiction eBooks

I love this book, A Betting Bride. It is as good as the first one, A Bargain Bride or maybe a little bit better. I can't decide. You don't have to read the first book to enjoy this one but it is interesting to visit 'old friends'.

I love the quotes at the top of each chapter. I wish that the author of the quote had been included (Google found the one I was interested in so no problem).

Ms. Demedeiros is very clever at putting words together to paint a picture. A small example - The town doctor to a patient, "For such a small town, you folks around here have a nasty habit of getting yourselves shot, stabbed, and your ladies pregnant. I can see the entertainment in one of those activities but I question your sanity on the other two." A few words that says a whole lot.

As the conflict between Alac and Serena was reveled, it explained how Alac became who he was and reminded us that we all come with baggage.
The whole town of Liberty Texas is peopled with folks I would like to know. I would have liked to know more about the bad guy and his relationship with his daughter too but I suspect that will be in the next book. I would like to know more about the candle maker with the scar on his face that had been in prison. Maybe another book?

There was some bad language used but no more than what is on tv every day. Ladies in the time frame the book takes place in did not use those words or they would have been shunned. I would rather they not be included but in the real world they are so...

There were enough hints and things not resolved to make waiting for the third book hard. I can't wait to see what happens next.

A Betting Bride Alec and Serena Brides of Liberty Series Book 2 edition by Rebecca De Medeiros Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I enjoyed this book again did not want to stop reading. I enjoyed the first; it kept me laughing and no one trying to come between the two people. I liked the second because it picked up right after the first and not years later. I do not like a lot of conflict in a story. I am looking forward to the next book.
I enjoyed reading this book very much. It was well written and the characters were well developed. There were interesting plots that included other characters also. Am still waiting for her third book in the series the least wanted bride this should also be very good.
I enjoyed this story just as much as the first book in the series. Lots of little plots within the main story. This story made me laugh, made me cry, and some scenes were just hot! I look forward to other books in this series. Mathias and Trudy are next. I hope Hunter gets a book down the line.
I must say this book was very good. I really enjoyed reading it. The plot is good, the characters are well rounded . I love the story line, it had me thinking yea I can see them doing that.. This is a must read for any romance reader. This author knows her stuff and is one to watch. Her writing is so well done that I felt like I was taken back in time and was part of the story. I will buy from her again and again.
A Betting Bride is romantic, fun and witty. I fell in love with Serena and Alec. The characters were well written and full of personality. I loved the give and take of the whole romance, wondering will they or wont they. This is the second novel I have read by Rebecca De Medeiros and she did not disappoint. A Betting Bride took me away from my stressful days and transported me into a small old west town with plenty of action and romance.
Dude Review I wish more people would do what rebecca's doing with the sales of this book. I prefer not to rehash stories but all I have to say is you must read the prequel to this book before reading this one, not because you'll miss out on vital info, but because they're just that awesome together! Rebecca's has a unique spin on writing this novels, with a saying that starts every chapter, excellent humor, perfect dosage of pain that pulls at your heartstrings, with a whole lotta shakin goin on! And I mean that in a good sense, realistically there's a whole lot of sexual tension which I prefer, and when they start rollin in the hay it's definitely toe curlin. A little vulgar that might throw sensitive readers off, but I still enjoyed it very much. Please just go git this book right naw!
I loved this book. The first one was good, but this one was better. Serena was a special person in love with Alec for 10 yrs. Alec had so much baggage from his past he could not let himself get serious about anyone until he could sort his past out and he didn't know if he could do that.
A half brother and mother appear (of which he didn't even know they existed) and he is totally devastated. Serena keeps trying to find out what is the reason Alec acts like he does and they fight and love on and on until Serena's brother catches them in a compromising position. They are forced to wed and a lot of problems arise. This is a great story. Read and find out what happens!
